This article explains how to use the UltiMaker Digital Factory to track scheduled maintenance, notify your team about printer status, and ensure your printers remain in optimal condition.

In this article, you will learn:

  • How to prepare a printer for maintenance by holding the print queue.
  • How to view the maintenance schedule and mark tasks as complete.
  • How to leave maintenance notes for your team.

How to Manage Printer Maintenance

Follow these steps to prepare your printer and log your maintenance activities directly in the Digital Factory.

1. Prepare for Maintenance (Hold the Print Queue)

To prevent new jobs from starting while you are performing maintenance, you should temporarily hold the printer’s queue.

  • Select the printer from the overview page.
  • Click the three-dots menu in the top-right corner.
  • Select Hold Print Queue from the dropdown menu.

Users can still add jobs to the queue, but they will not start. To re-enable printing, follow the same steps and select Release Print Queue.

2. Record Completed Maintenance

On the printer’s page, navigate to the Maintenance tab to find the scheduled maintenance overview and the recommended frequency for each task.

  • After performing a maintenance action, check the box next to the corresponding task.
  • Once you have selected all completed tasks, scroll down and click the Mark as done button.

The completed tasks will be logged in the History section, and the schedule will automatically update with the next due date. This history is visible to everyone with access to the printer.

Tip: If you are unsure how to perform a specific action, click the link icon next to the task to open a detailed support article with instructions.

3. Leave a Maintenance Note

You can leave a note on the printer’s Maintenance tab to inform your team about scheduled maintenance or report a problem with the printer.
